Joe Kubert

This image is of Joe Kuberts Sgt. Rock. I think this image was drawn using pen, pencil and different coloured felt tip pens or fineliners. I like the amount of detail that has gone into the face such as all of the black lines which make the face more real. For example the black lines make up most of the stubble on the chin which make the character seem more gritty and dirty- as seen in the army.

This image (Below) shows the character Hawkman. I like the range of colours used in this image and the way there is a picture in the background merged in with the blue. Basically Joe Kubert is trying to communicate Hawkman hence the bold title and the main character flying on its back. This image would of been used in a DC Comic.

Joe Kubert is a Jewish- American comic book artist who later went on to found the 'Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art'. Joe is best known for his work on the DC Comics characters 'Hawkman' and 'Sgt. Rock'.
