Michael Terry

This image shows a large man with large arms and hands leaning over a table. It is quite a humourous image because of the way it has been created. I like the oversized nose of the man as it creates the type of picture you get when watching 'creature comforts'. This image (below) shows an out of proportion face which could of been either a self portrait or a picture of someone Mike Terry met. It could of been drawn using either pencils and then paint or by using Photoshop. I like the way the nose and the lips are bigger than everything else as it gives a humorous side to the image.

Mike Terry uses a range of traditional media to build the rich surface detail in his images. His celebrity caricatures grab viewers with their exaggerated humour. His illustration style is humourous and conceptual. His best work comes from being given the freedom to express his own brand of humour in illustration. He produces his illustrations in gouache, colured pencil and pen and ink.
